How to Reschedule Tasks on the Calendar

See your tasks on the day they are due, and move a task to another day without leaving the page.

The Calendar lays your tasks out by due date, so you can see a busy week at a glance and spread the work out. Everything on it is a task, and it sits on the day the task is due. This guide walks through reading the Calendar and moving a task to a new day.

In this article
  1. Open the Calendar
Choose Calendar in the left menu. You can also reach it from the Tasks page, which has a switch at the top right between List and Calendar. The page opens on the current month.
  2. Move between months
The month and year are shown at the top left. Use the arrows beside them to go back or forward one month at a time. Choose Today to come back to the current month. While the days load, the grid says Loading.
  3. Read the day cells
The grid runs from Monday to Sunday, with the days of the month in rows. Today is marked. Each day shows up to three tasks that are due on it, each as a small chip with the title of the task. If more than three are due, a line such as plus 2 more tells you how many are left. The chips are tinted by priority, and a task that is already done is struck through and faded.
  4. Choose a task
Choose a chip. A window called Reschedule Task opens, with the title of the task under the heading.
  5. Pick the new due date
Under New due date, pick the day the task should move to. The Reschedule button stays off until a date is set.
  6. Choose Reschedule
Choose Reschedule. The button reads Saving while it works, and the task then appears on its new day. Choose Cancel to close the window and leave the task where it was. If the change does not go through, the window shows the reason and the task stays on its old day.
  7. Use the day list on a narrow screen
On a phone, the Calendar shows a week strip instead of the month grid. Each day of the week is a small button with one letter and the date; today and the day you chose are marked. Choose a day to see its date written out and a list of the tasks due that day. If a task has a reminder time, the time is shown beside it. If nothing is due, the list says No events today. Choose a task in the list to reschedule it in the same window.

A few things worth knowing

The Calendar shows tasks only, and it does not create them. To add a task, use the Tasks page; the guide on creating and managing tasks walks through it. Rescheduling here changes only the due date of the task.

At the top right of the page on a wide screen you will also see a Month and Week switch and an Event button. This guide does not use them, because the page shows the month grid either way and the Event button does not open anything at this point.

What you see depends on your role and your tasks. If you delete a task by mistake, the guide on restoring a deleted record shows how to get it back.
